[Intro] DKDB Nashville

Hello friends, it's your buddy Lou Pickney with you here with the DKDB update.

March 18th, 2026.

Getting closer and closer.

The upcoming NFL draft, well more than a month away.

Be sure to check out the DKDB, I personally curated, expert curated 2026 NFL mock draft database.

I put the best of the best in the DKDB.

Updated my mock draft to reflect the trade that happened yesterday between the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins.

Let's go over.

This happened right after I left my house to head up to Suwanee.

I called yesterday Suwanee versus Scranton men's lacrosse game.

Had a lot of fun with that.

I love that gig.

But sometimes you get home and find, oh, there was a trade that happened.

Let me tell you about it.

Jaylen Waddle traded from Miami to Denver.

And I think it's a sign of the times as far as the value for late first round picks in this draft versus your standard draft, the way some people see it.

They don't necessarily see the value in the late first round that others do.

I guess that's the perception at this point.

Here on nfl.com, some specifics on it.

So Miami gets the number 30 overall pick in this draft along with the Broncos third and fourth rounders.

Miami sends its fourth rounder to Denver as part of it.

Of course, Miami is in a mode right now where it's having to rebuild.

It's having to take its medicine for that awful contract signed with Tua Tagovailoa.

I mean, just absolutely awful as far as the management went on that one.

I don't like to call people out too much on that.

With those rolling guarantees, how could you not have anticipated this happening?

But hey, you can get somebody on that kind of deal, it doesn't work out, it's going to be somebody else's problem to fix.

That's the way it works in the NFL.

You aren't winning, and you're out on the outside pretty quickly.

Anyway, so it's an interesting thought as far as the 2026 NFL draft goes relative to the wide receiver position.

I want to spotlight one prospect in particular here.

Carnell Tate, wide receiver from Ohio State.

He is remarkably sure-handed.

While not a track star speed kind of guy, he is remarkably adept at getting open in 3 seconds or less.

He will catch practically anything you throw his way, very reliable as a receiver.

I think I might have him lower than most at this point as far as some of the latest rounds of 2026 NFL mock drafts from the DKDB.

I'm going to start here with the lowest spot, which is actually my mock draft, and then work our way up.

So Carnell Tate, I have going at number 13 to the Los Angeles Rams.

Pick they acquired last year from the Atlanta Falcons.

It's interesting with Tate because there's some that see him at a higher spot than this.

Personally, I think Tate is a great prospect, but this whole mock draft thing isn't about what I think should happen, could happen, if I were doing things, etc., because that doesn't matter.

What matters what these teams are going to do.

So I think the Rams would likely be elated to get Tate here at number 13.

I see some listings, some indicators that say Tate is maybe more I mean, he's a very much a top prospect, maybe more in the 10, 11, 12 range.

That kind of reflects that here.

But that might not be realistic if you look at some of the latest prognostications.

So here I have Tate at 13.

Here on PFNS, Jacob Infante has Miami taking Carnell Tate at number 11.

Look at Miami making that trade, getting rid of Waddle.

Wide receiver was already perceived as a need for Miami before that.

So Miami could go with a receiver late in the first round, that number 30 overall pick they received from Denver, or they could go with a a wide receiver here at number 11.

Strong case to be made for Carnell Tate at 11 if he's there to Miami.

Walter Cherepinsky on Walter Football says Carnell Tate to the Kansas City Chiefs at number nine.

The Chiefs are in an interesting spot.

They've not drafted in the top 10 in several years because they've been very good consistently year in and year out.

This year they got the number nine overall pick.

Well, they'll have a number of need positions to fill.

If Tate is there, that could be a very appealing move for Kansas City.

That's what Walter Football has Carnell Tate's.

But here we've got Nate Davis, USA Today, has Carnell Tate going at number seven to the Washington Commanders.

There have been some pretty compelling cases being made on why Tate to be taken seriously as a strong possibility there for the Commanders.

They've spent some money on their defense this off-season.

It may depend on who else is on the board.

It always does, doesn't it?

Perhaps they'd be interested in Sunny Styles, a lot of talk of Caleb Downs, but if Carnell Tate is there, he's a solid receiver prospect.

So here the projection is number seven for the Commanders.

Daniel Jeremiah has a new mock draft, and in it he says Carnell Tate to the Cleveland Browns at number six.

Daniel's not the only one saying that.

It would fit an obvious need for Cleveland at wide receiver.

And it's interesting with the Browns having both the number six and the number 24 overall picks in this year's draft.

A lot of thought they'll use at least one of those picks on an offensive lineman.

Well, there's been a lot of talk about Monroe Freeling here at six.

Maybe that happens, or maybe not if Tate is on the board here.

That's where it gets interesting and at times maddening, this whole mock draft business.

One team veering from what's expected can have a chain reaction.

It flows right on down the draft board.

It's the way it works.

So it's a need spot for Cleveland.

And again with Tate, if you don't hold it against him that he doesn't have track style ultra high end speed, which was already a known thing for some time, and you look more at Tate's consistent production, his ability to get open, it makes sense for Cleveland.

They value Tate above someone like Freeling.

Again, there's been a lot of talk, but you know how it goes with speculation at this time of year.

Here it's Tate going to the Browns at number six in Daniel Jeremiah's latest 2026 NFL mock draft.

This mock draft from Joel Klatt, Fox Sports.

Much respect for Joel, he does a great job.

Here he's got Tate going to the New York Giants at number five overall.

That could happen.

The question is, do the Giants see Carnell Tate as if you're talking best player available, as a top five player there?

That seems to be where the question would be as far as the wide receiver prospects.

How much will demand for the position drive things compared to demand for the position at other key spots in both passing offenses and passing defenses?

Everything's predicated on that in the modern NFL.

But here it's Tate going to the New York Giants at five.

And finally here, this mock draft from Kurt Popejoy on Draft Wire, he's got Carnell Tate going at number two overall to the New York Jets.

Wouldn't that be something if the Jets, for all the talk there's been this off-season about the Jets, who didn't have a single interception as a team in 17 games last season.

I mention this quite a bit because it has never happened before.

Not to mention in 17 games in seasons in years past when there were 16, 14, strike-shortened seasons, I don't care.

Completely unheard of for a team to have zero interceptions.

But they made a lot of moves already in free agency to bring in new players, trying to rebuild.

Remember, the Jets have two first-round picks in this year's draft.

They've got three in next year's.

We'll see what the Jets end up doing, but that would be quite the move if the Jets ended up with Cardell Tate at number two overall.

So, that's the latest as far as some of the very newest 2026 NFL mock drafts in the DKDB.

I encourage you to bookmark the DKDB, check it frequently, updated daily, usually multiple times a day.

Also include They usually go with three for each particular mock draft or as far as picks that stand out.

Like there, I noted Cardell Tate at number five in Vinnie Iyer's latest.

So, in many ways, again, this latest group of mocks, you keep seeing Tate showing up top 10, top 10.

It's worth noting at this point, that's where it seems to be trending.

Although there are Again, the question is with Tate at five, would the Giants see him as being worthy of that pick?

We'll find out sooner enough on that.

So, that's going to do it for this DKDB update.

I'm your host, Lou Pickney.

Talk to you again soon.

Bye for now.
